“I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. At 19, my husband and I decided to move to Florida to pursue our own American dream. As a child, my husband spent his free time helping his parents run one of the most successful restaurants in our hometown—a Caribbean BBQ that served the most delicious rotisserie chicken recipe. It’s so good that it’s been kept secret and passed down through generations; to this day, it remains the go-to chicken place back home. His legacy, combined with my passion for food, lent itself perfectly to the opening of our own catering business, La Cabaña del Pio Pio, in Orlando.
In 2009, I randomly bumped into a food stylist friend of mine. Knowing that I ran my own catering business, she asked if I would assist her on her next photo shoot. I must confess, I had no idea what I was getting into at the time. I was immediately captivated by the process and gained a new excitement and appreciation for different aspects of the food industry. Since then, I’ve learned so much to enhance my food styling repertoire. Who knew a chance encounter with a friend could be so life-altering?
Twenty years later, my husband and I (along with our incredible daughters, Sol and Luna) continue to live by the philosophy: ‘When there is good food, there is a happy family.’
Being a food stylist has encapsulated my love for beautiful food and family, and I couldn’t have wished for a better American dream.”.
